An Authentic Medieval Adventure

Released in 2018, Kingdom Come: Deliverance takes players to the Kingdom of Bohemia in the early 15th century, during a turbulent period of political conflict and civil war. Developed by Warhorse Studios, the game places you in the role of Henry, the son of a blacksmith whose quiet life is shattered when his village is attacked.

Thrown into a world far beyond his experience, Henry becomes caught up in the struggles surrounding King Wenceslaus IV and his rival Sigismund. What begins as a personal journey develops into a much larger adventure involving nobles, soldiers, mercenaries and the political factions fighting for control of Bohemia.

Rather than presenting a traditional fantasy interpretation of the Middle Ages, Kingdom Come: Deliverance focuses on historical authenticity and a grounded depiction of medieval life. There are no dragons, magic spells or supernatural kingdoms. Instead, the world is filled with castles, forests, farms, taverns, monasteries and fortified towns, populated by characters with their own lives and routines.

That commitment to realism gives the game a distinctive identity and makes it an especially memorable choice for fans of historical RPGs.

The Story of Henry

Henry begins the adventure as an ordinary young man living in the village of Skalitz. He has no great destiny, legendary swordsmanship or noble bloodline. His life revolves around his family and his apprenticeship as a blacksmith. Everything changes when Skalitz is attacked, forcing Henry to flee and leaving him determined to seek justice for what happened to his home and family.

As the story progresses, Henry gradually becomes involved in the wider conflict engulfing Bohemia. He encounters nobles and soldiers, joins military campaigns, investigates crimes and becomes increasingly capable of surviving in a world where social status and reputation can matter just as much as physical strength.

His progression is one of the defining aspects of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Henry isn’t simply a hero who starts with all the answers. His abilities, knowledge and reputation develop throughout the adventure, making his journey feel more personal and grounded than many traditional fantasy RPG protagonists.

A Living Medieval World

One of Kingdom Come: Deliverance’s greatest strengths is its detailed open world. The landscape of medieval Bohemia is filled with forests, fields, villages, castles and roads connecting its settlements. The world isn’t simply a backdrop for the story. Characters follow daily routines, towns have their own social structures and the time of day can affect what is happening around you. Travelling through the countryside can reveal encounters, quests and situations that aren’t necessarily part of the main storyline.

The result is an RPG where simply exploring can become an adventure in itself.

You can visit taverns, learn skills, hunt, practise combat, investigate mysteries, trade with merchants and take on a huge variety of quests. How you approach certain situations can also depend on Henry’s abilities, equipment and reputation, allowing different aspects of the character to influence the way you experience the world.

Medieval Combat and Survival

Combat in Kingdom Come: Deliverance is deliberately more grounded than the simplified sword fighting found in many fantasy RPGs. Swordplay requires attention to positioning, timing and the direction of your attacks, while different weapons and armour offer different advantages. Henry can fight with swords, axes, maces and other medieval weapons, while shields and armour provide additional protection. Combat can become particularly demanding when facing multiple opponents, making preparation and equipment important parts of survival.

But fighting isn’t always the answer.

The game also gives players opportunities to use stealth, speech, persuasion and other skills to overcome problems. Henry’s abilities can influence conversations and quests, meaning that the way you develop your character can change how certain situations unfold. This combination of role-playing, exploration and realistic combat helps Kingdom Come: Deliverance stand apart from more traditional fantasy adventures.

History, Choice and Consequence

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is built around the idea that Henry is a small part of a much larger historical conflict. The game draws inspiration from real locations, people and events while creating its own story around them. Its world is therefore filled with historical detail, from medieval architecture and clothing to weapons, armour and everyday customs. Towns and castles are designed to feel like functioning settlements rather than generic fantasy locations.

The role-playing systems also encourage you to think about how Henry approaches the world. Improving skills, maintaining equipment, managing reputation and deciding how to deal with different characters all contribute to the feeling that Henry is an individual living within this society rather than simply a player avatar moving from one objective to another.

For fans of historical games, medieval RPGs or immersive open-world adventures, it offers a particularly distinctive take on the genre.

From Kingdom Come to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Kingdom Come: Deliverance established the world of medieval Bohemia and introduced players to Henry’s journey. Its success eventually led to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, which continues Henry’s story while expanding the world and scope of the series.

The two games work naturally together as part of the same collection, making this poster a strong companion piece to the Kingdom Come: Deliverance II poster. Displaying both designs together creates a dedicated Kingdom Come gaming wall section spanning Henry’s journey across the two adventures.

Whether you discovered the series with the original game or came to it through its sequel, the first Kingdom Come remains the foundation for the world, characters and story that followed.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance Poster Design

This Kingdom Come: Deliverance poster uses the game’s main artwork as its centrepiece, giving the medieval world and its characters the visual focus.

The game title sits above the main image, while the upper-right section provides key information including the developer, publisher, genre and original launch platforms. Six colour swatches sampled directly from the artwork sit at the upper left, adding a compact visual element that reflects the tones used throughout the design.

Below the main artwork is a short synopsis of Kingdom Come: Deliverance alongside its original release date, providing useful context while keeping the overall layout clean. The bottom of the poster features the original launch platform logos, completing the structured gaming-poster design.

The combination of detailed medieval artwork and the clean information-led layout makes the print particularly suited to gaming rooms, offices and collections built around RPGs, historical games and immersive open-world adventures.
