Become Spider-Man
Released in 2018, Marvel’s Spider-Man brought Peter Parker’s web-slinging adventures to the PlayStation 4 in a huge open-world version of New York City.
This isn’t an origin story. Peter has already been Spider-Man for several years when the game begins, giving Insomniac Games the opportunity to focus on a more experienced hero balancing his responsibilities as Spider-Man with his life as Peter Parker. As Peter swings between the skyscrapers of Manhattan, he faces familiar villains, uncovers criminal conspiracies and attempts to protect the city while dealing with the increasingly complicated consequences of his actions.
The result is a fast-paced superhero adventure that combines web-swinging, acrobatic combat, stealth and exploration with a surprisingly personal story about Peter, his friends and the people around him.
Peter Parker’s New York
New York City is effectively another character in Marvel’s Spider-Man. The game’s recreation of Manhattan gives Peter an enormous playground to explore, with skyscrapers providing launch points for web-swinging, streets filled with pedestrians and traffic, and countless activities scattered throughout the city. Moving around the city is one of the game’s defining pleasures. Peter can leap from a rooftop, fire a web at a nearby building and immediately begin swinging through the streets, turning traversal itself into one of the game’s most enjoyable mechanics.
The open world also provides plenty of distractions away from the main story, including crimes in progress, research stations, collectibles and challenges. For Spider-Man, getting around New York isn’t just transportation — it’s part of being the city’s friendly neighbourhood superhero.
A Different Kind of Superhero Story
Marvel’s Spider-Man balances the spectacle of being a superhero with the more personal problems facing Peter Parker. Peter has to manage his relationships, his responsibilities and his work while simultaneously dealing with increasingly serious threats to New York. Characters including Aunt May, Mary Jane Watson and Miles Morales help give the story a sense of life outside the superhero action. At the same time, Peter faces a collection of villains that make the game feel like a genuine Spider-Man story rather than simply an open-world action game with a Marvel licence.
The result is a story about responsibility, sacrifice and the difficult choices that come with trying to protect the people you care about.
Insomniac’s Spider-Man
Marvel’s Spider-Man was developed by Insomniac Games, the studio responsible for translating one of Marvel’s most recognisable heroes into a fully explorable game world. The studio’s approach gave Spider-Man an impressive sense of movement. Web-swinging feels fast and fluid, while combat combines punches, kicks, gadgets, environmental attacks and acrobatics to create a distinctive Spider-Man fighting style.
The game also established the foundation for an increasingly connected series of Marvel adventures from Insomniac.
The story continued with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on PlayStation 5. Together, the three games form a natural collection of Insomniac’s Spider-Man adventures.
A Poster Inspired by the Original Key Art
This design takes inspiration from the key art of Marvel’s Spider-Man and brings its distinctive superhero imagery into the Gamers Gallery poster format. The Spider-Man identity is immediately recognisable, while the structured layout gives the design a clean appearance that works particularly well as gaming wall art.
The game title sits above the main artwork, with developer, publisher, genre and original launch platform information positioned alongside the image. Six colours sampled from the artwork provide a complementary visual element, while the game synopsis and original 2018 release date appear below the main image. The original launch platform logo completes the design at the bottom.
The result is a poster that combines the visual identity of Marvel’s Spider-Man with the clean, information-led style of the Gamers Gallery collection.
Continue the Insomniac Spider-Man Collection
If you’re a fan of Insomniac’s Spider-Man games, this poster naturally leads into the rest of the series. The story continues with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which introduces Miles as a playable Spider-Man while expanding the world established by the original game. That is followed by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, bringing Peter and Miles together for a larger PlayStation 5 adventure featuring new characters, locations and threats.
The Insomniac connection also extends beyond Spider-Man. The studio also developed Marvel’s Wolverine, making the Wolverine poster a natural companion piece for Marvel fans who want to collect Insomniac’s superhero games. Together, these designs offer a way to build a gaming wall around some of Insomniac’s most recognisable Marvel projects. Complete the collection with the Marvel’s Spider-Man Trilogy Poster Bundle, featuring Marvel’s Spider-Man, Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2 together as a three-poster gaming wall art set.
