Description

A New Chapter for Ethan Winters

Released in 2021, Resident Evil Village continues the story of Ethan Winters following the terrifying events of Resident Evil 7. What should have been a peaceful new chapter for Ethan and his family quickly turns into another nightmare when his daughter, Rosemary, is taken and he finds himself stranded in a mysterious European village.

Set against a snowy, isolated landscape, Village takes Resident Evil somewhere quite different from the claustrophobic Baker estate. The village itself becomes the centre of a much larger world filled with ancient legends, strange inhabitants and horrifying creatures, while Ethan searches for his missing daughter and tries to understand what has happened.

The Village and Its Horrors

The game introduces a collection of memorable locations and characters, each with their own distinctive style of horror. Ethan encounters the imposing Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters at Castle Dimitrescu, the unsettling Donna Beneviento at her secluded house, the grotesque Salvatore Moreau and the industrial-minded Karl Heisenberg.

At the heart of the village is Mother Miranda, a mysterious figure whose influence reaches throughout the story. As Ethan explores the region, the various pieces of the mystery gradually begin to connect, revealing the deeper relationship between the village, its inhabitants and his own past.

Survival Horror Meets Action

Village builds upon the first-person perspective introduced in Resident Evil 7 while expanding the scale considerably. Exploration, puzzles and resource management remain important, but the game also places a much greater emphasis on combat and action.

That mixture gives Resident Evil Village its own identity within the series. It combines gothic horror, grotesque creatures, traditional Resident Evil mysteries and cinematic action, creating a strange and memorable journey that feels both familiar and completely different.

Ethan Winters

At the centre of everything is Ethan Winters. Unlike many of Resident Evil’s established heroes, Ethan is an ordinary man caught up in extraordinary circumstances, making his journey particularly personal.

The key art used for this poster captures that sense of mystery perfectly. Ethan’s face dominates the artwork, with one eye glowing an eerie yellow, creating an unsettling image that hints at the secrets surrounding his character without giving everything away.

The Poster Design

This Resident Evil 8 poster is based around the game’s striking key art, with Ethan and his distinctive glowing eye providing the main visual focus. The dark, atmospheric artwork works particularly well with the minimalist Gamers Gallery design, allowing the central image to remain the star of the piece.

The Resident Evil Village title sits above the artwork, accompanied by developer, publisher, genre and platform information. Six colour swatches sampled directly from the image sit alongside the main artwork, while a short story summary and original release date appear underneath.

Format logos complete the design, giving the poster the feel of a curated piece of gaming history rather than a conventional promotional poster.

If you’re collecting the modern Resident Evil era, this print pairs naturally with the Resident Evil 7 poster and forms part of the Resident Evil 7, 8 & Requiem poster bundle, bringing three of the series’ modern horror experiences together as a matching collection.
